The dream.
Sci-Fi Ireland's mission is to find and publish the best new short science-fiction from the Island of Ireland.

To bring sci-fi into the spotlight at a time when philosophy, thought and discussion around science and technology are more important than they’ve ever been.
And to provide a literary space in which the sci-fi community of Ireland can connect and have a bit-a-craic.
The reality.
Sci-Fi Ireland is a bi-annual magazine available in digital and print. We open for submissions twice yearly. In Dec/Jan for May publication, and again in June/July for November publication.
All authors published are paid. We draw the majority of our stories from open submissions but also commission a few stories per issue.

We’re particularly interested in stories that explore human potential, and that interrogate human nature diverging from the natural world. We lean heavily towards humorous writing and don’t consider ourselves particularly beholden to “hard” science.
We prefer concept driven stories, and speculative capacity will outweigh scientific accuracy. But, it should go without saying that paper-thin characters or straw dogs will not make it onto our pages.
We also publish reviews and op-eds from the Sci-Fi Ireland team.
